Assessing Landscape Instability through Land-Cover Change Based on the Hemeroby Index (Lithuanian Example)

The increasing anthropogenic impact on landscapes globally has increased interest in assessing landscape naturalness. This study assessed the changes land cover Lithuania and identified most common reasons for land-use change. Coordination of Environment Information (CORINE) land-cover data were used to assess naturalness from 1995 2018. Land-cover types ranked according hemeroby index, ranging natural with no human excessively strong impact. Land use trends related agricultural forestry activities. During analysed period, these areas decreased by as much 11.19%, number a particularly activities also decreased. did increase less suitable agriculture. needs be explored detail at local level, which should followed appropriate spatial-planning decisions ensure ecological balance through many sustainable solutions possible, especially European Commission adoption Green Deal.
